Description:

Our organic elderberries are 100% natural, carefully handled to preserve their quality, and proudly sourced from Bulgaria.
Elderberries are celebrated worldwide for their traditional wellness benefits and exceptionally high antioxidant content. These dried berries are perfect for crafting a comforting homemade syrup or adding a rich, flavorful twist to foods and beverages like teas, jams, pies, juices, and cordials.
They feature a delightful, fruity aroma and a sweet, tart flavor with deep, earthy undertones. They coordinate beautifully with cinnamon, cloves, and other dried botanicals.
🛑 IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: DO NOT CONSUME RAW. DRIED ELDERBERRIES MUST BE THOROUGHLY COOKED OR PREPARED WITH BOILING WATER PRIOR TO INGESTION.

Brewing Instructions for Tea:
Pour 8–12 oz of boiling water (212°F) over 1–2 tsp of dried berries. Cover and steep for 3–4 minutes.
Ingredients for Homemade Elderberry Syrup:
  • 1 cup (8 oz) dried organic elderberries
  • 2 cups cold water (distilled, purified, or spring water works best)
  • 2–3 tsp organic dried ginger root
  • 1 organic sweet cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup raw, local honey (or organic maple syrup/agave for a vegan-friendly option; double the sweetener to increase shelf life)
  • 1 cup vodka or brandy (optional, to extend shelf life)
Directions:
  1. Combine the berries, herbs, and cold water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and allow the herbs to simmer gently for 30 to 40 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat and let the mixture steep for 1 hour.
  4. Strain the berries and herbs using a funnel overlaid with a doubled cheesecloth or an undyed cotton muslin bag. Gently squeeze out the remaining liquid (use caution, as the liquid may still be hot). Discard the used herbs in your compost.
  5. Once the liquid has cooled down to just above room temperature, add the honey and stir well to incorporate.
  6. If you are using vodka or brandy, add it here and stir until well combined.
  7. Bottle your syrup in a sterilized glass jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Pro Tips:
Be sure to add honey in a ratio that is at least half of the total volume of your liquid after it has simmered. This volume can change slightly depending on your simmer time. Ensuring you have enough natural preservative (honey) keeps your syrup fresh. (Example: If you are left with 2 cups of elderberry liquid after straining, you will want to add at least 1 cup of honey.)
